I reckon Popey wants to stay, which could prove to be a mitigating factor. Don't forget Gannon's wages are off the balance sheet now which will help (obviously a pay out is due but that will probably take a while to sort). I wouldn't be surprised to see him with us to the end of this and permenantly next season

Could we cancel his short term loan and then loan him back on a season long loan? Is that possible?

 

I think the main reason that they have sent Pope is that he had appearance clauses in his transfer fee. I'm sure he said in an interview that if he plays a couple more games for them it triggers another payment to Crewe.

Rotherham would be wise to get him back as quickly as they can, by scoring goals for us he is only hindering their promotion chances.

 

I hope we can keep him for as long as possible though, he is a goal threat and he does seen to win penalties.

 

He is Vale through and through just like us, so it is all down to Rotherham.

I expect Pope to be recalled any day to be frank.

 

He is their player and I guess if they get a new manager he will want to assess everyone in his squad.

 

IF we are still serious about achieving something this season - and I think it's looking increasingly unlikely - we need perhaps 2-3 loan players in before the deadline. I don't expect it will happen but I'm fairly sure we won't see Gannon's other two current loanees again so we need strengthening.

 

Someone with pace and someone with good movement would help a lot.

Edit: Unless they've changed the rule this season from 8 players to 9 in which case he has one option left.

You can only do that during January. From Rotherham's point of view they should recall him next week so it's too late for us to get a replacement!

That would mean though that he would have to return back to Rotherham at the end of April and miss the end of the season for us, possibly play offs.

 

I hope we don't have to play Rotherham if we do finish in the play offs.:(
