If we got Stoke I think it would be a decent crowd for this competition. Just because we haven't played them for ages competitively, this despite it being theur u21s.

No, I think the idea behind the rejig was effectively giving Football League clubs loads of money to get them to accept U21 squads.

 

So...

 

£10k for FL club per win / nothing for Academy

FL clubs automatically get a home game and gate receipts (about 20p judging on some of the crowds)

The Academy clubs get no financial benefit but they do get the chance to a) pit their kids in a competitive fixture b) destroy the credibility of the Football League Trophy

I hope it's not Stoke. It will be the final proof of how far we have fallen in the past 15 years. Not bothered who else it is. I suspect we'd beat Macc, I suspect we'd lose to City unless we played our first team and Bury would be 50/50.
