Admission charge

There has been a lot of debate on here, and elsewhere, about what a fair and reasonable admission charge would be at Vale Park.

How about letting league position decide? Take the league position one week before the game (or two if needs be to allow organisation/publicity) and charge £1 for each league position from 24th upwards.

So if Vale were in 24th place, £1 to get in, in 13th place it would be £12, in 8th place would mean £17, 3rd place £22 and top £24. Concession prices to be pro-rata using the same formula, but the same as the adult if the price is £10 or less.

Any thoughts on this ? I for one wouldn't mind paying £24 if we were top, and think the Torquay game at £12 would have been a reasonable price.

What happens with Season Tickets then?....

This idea is for the rest of this season only, so nothing happens with Season Ticket holders. It may seem a little unfair if we do badly, but I think most positive-thinking Vale ST holders would back the idea if it helped increase gates and move us up the league.

Who knows ? They may actually save a fair bit once we hit the top 6 or higher (always the optimist here).

It just wouldn't work, would it.

I appreciate you having a different opinion, but can you tell me why it wouldn't (or couldn't) work. Matches have had their admission price changed this season already, it is possible and not difficult.

Thinking about it, there is really little chance of being in the top3 or bottom 6 for the rest of 2011/12 so it isn't as drastic as it sounds. It could also be scrapped at any time if it isn't working to the advantage of the club.

How would you mitigate the risk for a very poor season? Perhaps have a basic price of £10-15 then make the rest up on league position.

It was really intended for the rest of 2011/12, far too risky for a whole season. Yes, I quite like the variation of a starting safety net, maybe £10 then a £1 for each position above 15th - all ideas need some enhancement, so thanks for that.:)

Good tweak

Hold on- that means some fans might come along thinking it's one price when it's really another.

Not everybody checks league tables week in week out. Think of the trouble it might bring-

Supporter-"We won last week and we were 2nd, so why are we paying more?

Answer- (turnstile operator)"Because the team above us lost last night, and now we have a better goal difference on the same points"

Can you see where i'm going with this??

That's why you set it a week or two in advance giving people warning and if people won't pay more for better quality football then that's their loss.
