Just checked the two Sheffield clubs. No clashes. Do the EFL actually realise Vale and Stoke are in the same city?!!

This has become more common ( if my memory right ! ) in the past few seasons. Rarely used to happen.

Last summer i actually was a bit of an anorak and sent an E-mail to the EFL about it.

I quoted the Sheffield clubs, Forest and County, Villa and Brum, Everton, Liverpool etc etc as examples.

In fact Jean may have better idea but i'm sure it is even rare for Sunderland and Toon to be at home the same day , i might be wrong though.

All i got was a bog standard reply which basically was a total cop out. Said that the computer takes in all factors blah blah blah.

Absolute piffle basically, surely with technology these days it doesn't take a genius to work out and have us and Stoke as opposites.

October 6th is another cracker, Vale away to Grimsby , Stoke away to Norwich. Completely bizarre and in fact lazy by the EFL.

All those clubs quoted above in the derbies get much bigger crowds though. Maybe not Notts County, but they are spitting distance away from Forest so thats probably a factor therer. But our low attendances could be the reason why its now deemed ok for us to play on the same day.

Yes good point, though i do know a bobby who works at Tunstall and they are expecting a lot more 'work' shall we say down Stoke now they are in the Championship.

The Preston and Carlisle double header probably wouldn't be allowed to happen if only for the away supports being on same trains etc.

Last year we had Stevenage and Crawley games, think they had Everton and Spurs. Probably not even 150 away fans in total at our 2 games so easily policed.

As i said before just smacks of amateurism from the EFL

Noticed we got 4 matches at home on a Saturday with Stoke playing at home the same day as well. Will we have to move these games? Could possibly play a few Friday night games instead?

No Premiership primacy of fixture now. I expect Stoke to have to take their turn in playing on Fridays.

I know we see it as lazy or poor that they can't figure it out, but it's all computer generated with hundreds of different rules to adhere to, there is a distinct possibility that we have to both play away on that day because there are numerous rules which mean those teams have no other choice but to play us then as they are the only available dates.

With the Sheffield clubs, as priorities go when looking for clashes, I would expect their rule would be near the top of the list. I would expect ours to be relatively low, given we're two leagues apart from Stoke, & we rarely hit 5K.
