World Darts Championships

Morning all,

 

Wondering if anybody has ever been before (or been to any other tournaments), we're looking to go this year & as I'm not the main fan of darts in the family, I'm not really read up on the sport, & don't know much about the 'format' of things e.g when the tournaments are played, what different ones there are etc. I know pretty much the basics of the sport itself & that's it.

 

Could anyone give me a bit of information/point me in the right direction of when tickets go on sale, rough prices & where I'd go to find them? I've had a quick look online (at work currently) but there's a lot of different sites for me to just wade into & I want to make sure I'm looking in the right places.

The best place to look for tickets is on the official PDC site.

If you want to go to the Worlds they are in December/ early January.

Prices will go up depending on what stage of the competition it is.

What you need to bear in mind depending if you like a drink or not, is that the tournament is played predominantly over Xmas/ New year so it isn't the sort of place you drive to and go home. You would probably need accomodation and plenty of ale money.

Also there is the BDO in early January but that is the so called lesser names on the BBC circuit. Though just realised it moved to Channel 4.

I've been the Ally Pally three times.

It's a cracking night out but it's not really something for the family.

A lot of drunk idiots.

Tickets go on sale in July and priced between 25 quid early rounds, cheap seats, up to 50 quid for the semis and final.

I think the grand slam is in Wolverhampton in November and probably a better night out.

You might still be able to get tickets for the World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool - on between 22-30 July. Been a few times over the years supporting The Power.
