After our point last night, it will be interesting to see how the clubs below us do.

 

The bottom four are playing:

 

Shrewsbury v Oldham (draw please)

 

Chesterfield v AFC Wimbledon (away win)

 

Coventry v Fleetwood (away win)

 

Of the others below us, Gills are away at the Blades, Swindon at home to Peterborough, and MK Dons at home to Northants. Let's hope for a better return than last week when I think four of the five below us managed to win.

It's amazing how many of the struggling teams have changed manager recently - and that often leads to improved performances, at least in the short-term.

 

Another obvious statement but no less significant is that with 3 points for a win things can alter quickly.

Not a bad set of results really. In 15th place, six points clear of the drop zone and two games in hand on Chesterfield and Bury who, despite their improvement over the last few games, find themselves in the bottom four. We also have two games in hand on Shrewsbury, Swindon and Northampton, and one in hand on Gillingham, all of whom are also below us. If we can win them, we will start to put clear water between us and relegation places. UTV.

Todays results saw the Vale stay in 15th spot, but next week is all important.

Gillingam have two home games, Dons on Tuesday and Shrewsbury on Saturday, whilst Northampton play at home to Coventry next Saturday.

Vale must win or at least draw at the promotion chasing Scunny, or they could drop two more places, down to 17th.

 

Hope that the expected signing from Macclesfield comes through, Jak returns in goal and M. Brown inspires the team to continue with the form that was shown against the much improved Bury.

My worry is the tough looking games we got in Feb as well as Scunny next week.
