Saw him drop a right clanger at a midweek game at Lincoln City 2 years ago. He seemed to push it in his own net.

 

Hope he isnt one of the legendary 'match fixer' Vale players;)

Personally as ive said before neither keeper has covered themselves in glory this season, with Tommo especially looking very shaky and Martin seems to be very nervy.

 

Would prefer us to look into the loan market for an experienced keeper in his 30's who can help install some confidence into the defence......oh wait.........we have no money.....

hate to say it but i don't think either keeper is up to much. being a good shot stopper is a gimme for all goalkeepers, and sadly neither Tomlinson or Martin have anything else to their game

Thommo hasn't looked that safe this season - he was at fault for Southend's third goal, Accrington's consolation + gave away a needless pen at Wimbledon. Martin's earned his chance & it might give Thommo a kick up the ass.

A keeper who can catch, one who doesnt need two & three attempts to make a claim for the ball/make it stick to them.

 

A keeper who does needlessly hare out of his goal and either pull a man down or flap at a cross.

 

Something that both Tommo & Martin are guilty of.

 

To many Vale fans sit back and are accepting of mediocrity or claim a player is good just because he runs like a headless chicken.

 

Theres too many who are now programmed to accept such crap.

Yes they are but how does that apply here, tommo and martin dont do that both are good goalkeepers who are struggling at the moment and dont need fans getting on their backs! Remember how good they have been and how good tommo was at Burton they are very good goalkeepers, everyone makes mistakes!!!!

Tomlinson spills the ball a lot he's just luckily never been punished for it from what I've seen. I feel more confident in Tomlinson for crosses and in general though. Both decent keepers but there's obviously room for improvement.

My main worry about Martin is that although he's performed well for a youngster, at the outset he was carrying too much weight. A couple of years later he still is. What sort of professional is it that doesn't have the discipline to get fit?

Have said it constantly over the last few years, we need a keeper in his 30's. They hit their prime later on, and an experienced keeper could bring on a younger keeper as well.
