As a team we are scoring far more now with Pope in there then we ever were with Justin Richards.

 

The reason we lost yesterday, and, and have dropped points this season is because we cannot keep a clean sheet. That has **** all to do with Pope.

I don't think he is useless as some do. I think we need to get the best out of him and he needs to get super fit and improve mobility. Rotherham signed him for a fee and Micky Adams saw him as a good player at this level. But he needs to be left out now because he isn't performing well enough, put him through recycling and bring him back when he is ready.

 

No one ever got 'super fit' and mobile whilst smoking and drinking .

 

The word 'professional' needs to be looked up and taken on board and until that happens , I'm afraid the mixed results we have had so far will continue.

 

I don't doubt that there is enough ability in some of this current bunch to do better in this League but until they start showing a more profeesional attitude we won't be going anywhere .

 

Saturday was a prime example for me , yes it should of been a comfortable win had the chances gone in , however they didn't and this happens but to me that should then end in a 0 -0 ,there is no way we should be conceding three to teams like Wimbledon , but hey good luck to them .

Despite his lack of goals you cant fault Toms contribution outside the box I think some people are being a little harsh but he will be judged on goals scored

I think it is grossly unfair to single out one player and scrutinise his performances in detail.

 

The official club web site is quick to criticise supporters groups for undermining the football club saying they could jepodise any future loan signings,I think this poll does just that.

 

I wonder if the editor of the official website will be mention this critical poll that could affect confidence of players?

I was hoping someone would see the connection - between us scoring more and Pope being on the pitch. If he isn't holding the ball up, which he does very well (and who else have we got who does that?), he's winning countless flick-ons. He's continuously bringing other Vale players into the game. Personally, and it's only my opinion, the reason other players are getting on the scoresheet is because of him up front causing mayhem in opposition defences - and allowing midfield players to push up and take advantage.

 

Yeah, he missed a sitter on Saturday. And he knew it.

 

What everyone conveniently forgets to mention, of course, is that in the first minute of injury time he launched himself at a cross and was desperately unlucky to see the header flash a fraction wide of the post.

 

I don't what games people watch nowadays. Or have they just already made their minds up that they're not going to like someone, no matter what.

If it is a stupdid poll and post why do a 126 people out of 422 think Tom Pope is not good enough for the Vale. And that is with 116 people still undecided. Personally I think he is good enough for the squad but dont believe he should ever start ahead of Richards, Rigg or even Williamson. And of course There is Louis dodds and little who can also play upfront and I would also rather see these in the starting 11 before Pope. His goalscoring record past and present speaks for itself!!!!!!!

 

Career total - 180 apperances - 39 Goals.

 

that is almost 1 goal every 5 games!!! SHOCKING For a striker at any level...
