Campion - Torquay

great!!! we havent got strikers hitting the back of the net and he loans one out!!!!

To be fair playing an out of form Campion probably wouldn't help.

What would help is if Campion goes to Torquay, gets match fit and starts scoring. Then he may be a useful introduction back into the first-team. The alternative is - he goes to Torquay and doesn't impress which would indicate that he isn't good enough.

Either way it's a good move, I feel and as long as there's a recall clause I can't see a problem.

Whether Campion has had a fair crack of the whip, or has the ability to even be passed the whip (to stretch the stupid analogy that I've chosen), is debatable. I get the impression that even if he scores a hatfull down there, he still won't be appearing anywhere near our first team again. As I said, I wish the man nothing but my best wishes. He's always seemed to be a decent chap and I get such a sinking feeling when these players join the club full of hope and expectation but fail for whatever reason to make the grade.

Great news for him and the club. Good loan move for him if the deal is completed. Hope he scores a few there and shows page why he should be given a chance to play in the first team.

hes obviusly fit, because hes gone to another club.

- a club in our league have not gone in for him

- a club from league two have not put in for him

- on what evidence have you got that thats hes worthy of a start in the first team for vale?

- hes ended up at a conference club, two leagues below vale, does it not strike you that hes not good enough?

Without putting words in Supervalefan1's mouth, I don't think he's saying Campion is ready now - he said "Hope he scores a few there and shows page why he should be given a chance" which to me means that he hopes Campion has a prolific loan spell and returns to the Vale ready to compete for a first-team place on the back of a good loan spell.

Surely we all hope that! Whether he will or not is another matter.

i would hope that we do have a player in the making, anyone who says 'hope he prooves page is wrong bla bla etc' is out of order, because campion hasnt done enough to earn him self a place, page and the backroom staff no better than us, how could he not be fit now after a year as well? he must of been here at least a year, i really do not see from any evidence how he is ever going to be good enough.

Id argue he couldn't do much of a worse job than some of our other forwards....

As I said, the "evidence" will come from a successful (or not successful) loan spell won't it? Isn't it best to let him go there and see what he does before we either write him off or think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

All I was trying to suggest was that I don't think anyone was saying he is good enough now. I also didn't read anyone writing that it would "prove Page wrong" - after all Page himself has said he hopes a good loan spell will get him in contention. I just read people suggesting that a successful loan spell may propel him back into the first-team plans (which is what the manager said when he said he may go on loan)

I think all people are doing is hoping he does well on the loan spell and in fact does so well he makes as strong a case as Hugill did for inclusion.

What will be, will be. Some players are good enough, some never make it but can't we at least give Campion a chance to go on loan and show what he can do before we pass judgement on his career?
