Not good enough Vale just goes to show we got no goals in the team, way to wreck my day Vale. Thing worries me now that we're fully spent up this is as good as it gets for us, other teams in this league will smash Crewe but we can't, only silver lining is our relegation rivals didn't beat us. I honestly think Vale can stay up if we find a goal scorer.

Looks like andoh should have started in place of dodds like many suggested. Its good to have a much stronger defence now, which was the main issue to sort out, but the imbalance in the squad, and lack of striking options is a concern. Its pointless having 15 midfielders and 4 keepers when you you cant score. Its early days though, and a local derby against crewe isnt the best match to make decisions on how we are going to fare throuh the season. And when you look at bradfords and sheff utds results, then not a bad first day.

Its telling that the crewe man of the match was their keeper though.

Having listened to the radio, is sproson a crewe fan. I might as well have listened to the crewe commentary.

Att 6751 with 2309 Vale.

Over a third of the attendance Vale fans.

4441 Crewe fans for the opening game of the season at home in a derby(?) game.

That's not counting the Vale fans in Crewe fans sections of the ground.
