Foley has taken Pope's number 11 shirt, O'Connor takes 8, Grant 42, Purkiss 2, Streete 4, Dodds moves from 8 to 10, 9 remains free for our new superstar striker as do 15, 20 and 21 - Ryan Innis take your pick! ;)

New squad numbers released on the official site.

 

Yates demoted to no16 whilst purkiss has been given the no2. (Is purkiss a right back?)

 

Number 9 is ready and waiting for a new vale hero. (Trying to be positive)

 

Few players have changed numbers. Hope nobody has got a new shirt with the wrong number but I'm sure they will be at least 1.

Tricky to read too much into squad numbers now. They are fine if you like buying shirts with players names on the back, but I don't believe they are much of a judge into likely starting 11s. I wonder if the Vale have ever played a game since the advent of squad numbers where the starting XI were wearing numbers 1-11. I very much doubt it.

Agreed, be shocked if they ever have since the intro of squad numbers.

 

I used to love the old 1-11 until Rudgie started messing around with things and having Aspo on occasions as number 7, Ian Taylor as number 11 and bizarrely on at least one occasion 3 and JJJ as number 7 against the Gas in the play off final.

Pleased to see Anthony grant has got the same number as he did when he was at Crewe. Should be interesting at Crewe for the first game of the season. :).
