Let's hope we can get a forward or two through the doors. That would give everyone a huge boost.

 

On a slightly less positive note, I see that O'Connor hasn't replied yet and it is believed that, like Pope, he has 5-6 clubs interested in him.

I'm being more pessimistic each day about him and Marshall, sadly.

As much as we would like the both of them to stay they have had long enough if by the end of the week there is still no response it would have to be thanks and goodbye.

O'Connor is on honeymoon so bit of an excuse there as to some of the delay. However it's looking likely that several other clubs are interested in him and one may just be closer for his travelling requirements.

 

My gut tells me that he would have signed by now if he was really interested in Vale. From our point of view perhaps we have to accept that for a while last season he was not the most cherished player as quite a few voiced opinions that he couldn't gel with Lines and that he was not involved for long periods of games. He then hit a purple patch and was in fact widely acknowledged as our best player for the latter part of our season. Don't get me wrong, I want him to stay and form a regular part of our midfield. However, trying to be realistic, he is not a world beater and maybe he appears to be "fantastic" only compared up against some other dross we had in the team? Perhaps if he did move on our team will not disintegrate and we could find similar replacements with the dosh available now to Page?

 

I am trying to be level headed here and I firmly am of the opinion that losing Tom, Marshall and O'Connor will not be the end of our world. We can rebuild a team and don't forget that these players were regulars and we did not actually set Division 1 on fire did we with them in the team?

Don't forget he took his time to sign for us last year too. The man obviously likes to weigh up his options comprehensively!
