Hereford Utd to be liquidated

This isn't the forum to discuss all the problems that the Bulls fans have had.

Anyhow, in brief a CVA agreement would have allowed the club (under desperately dodgy owners) to continue. But the CVA has now been rejected and Hereford will be liquidated. The estimate is that it will fold on 1st Sept.

This is something that most Hereford fans have actually wanted for some time. Plans are well progressed for a fans-owned phoenix club to be created (local businesses have given backing as has the local MP) and the council are understood to be happy to lease Edgar St to the new phoenix club.

It's "good" news in that it does mean that some particularly unpleasant characters (i.e. the current owners) have now lost a fair bit of money but the bad news is it also means that some good folk (unpaid club staff etc) will never see their money.

As a neutral, I can only say that the current board and the previous board at Hereford should hang their heads in shame for what they have done to that football club.

I read the long winded but very astutely put resume of Herefords previous goings on so it looks like all the dodgy deals and lack of corporate governance have been checked over by the administrators and found to be correct. So as expected the CVA can't be finalised and the hopes of the fans will be to see the club rise again debt free, pure greed has cost quite a few clubs their status and some havent recovered and are just a memory. So much for the fit and proper persons test.

Yes essentially that's what happened. The club was in control of some dodgy folk (criminals, property/asset strippers) and the only way for them to remain in control was for the CVA to be passed.

The owners were given a chance but broke promise after promise (to meet Conf deadlines to pay players/staff etc) and then started blaming the fans.

The fans (and creditors) reckoned that it was better to "lose" the club and set up a new one than to allow them to remain in charge.

It's a massive decision but the right one, I reckon.

Yes, good luck to Hereford - been to Edgar Street a few times and remember some good games against them.

Hope they come through this - I would like to believe that the club can survive in the long term under the stewardship of decent people who love the game, and are not just in it for themselves.
