banksy graffiti or art?

now I am a big fan of banksy and his work. Its the appeal from Gloucestershire police for information on the vandals that gets me. So the vandals who spray painted over the banksy work are crims but banksy can spray paint where he wants? Perhaps it depends how good you are at art that decides the boundaries of law?

I think the idea that everything can be art has allowed it to be replaced with bull****. Pretentious ***** that really love the idea of being an 'artist' but without the talent, and so replace talent with bull**** and a load of pretentious nonsense to explain it away. If it only becomes art when you put it in an exhibition and label it art, then it's on flimsy ground. If it becomes a pile of junk, or a crazy lady dropping paint bombs out of her fanny then that's all it is.

Some of Banksy's works aren't just art they are works of art. Far superior to most of the muck that is hung on many gallery walls.

A lot of narrow minded people dismiss art that doesn't comform to their narrow definition.It's art cos it's his or her expression of themselves,of what they are, what they feel, what they are thinking, what they see, what drives them, what inspires them, what saddens them and so on. You don't need talent cos it can be driven by raw emotion and be very personal, you don't need training, you don't need others to see it..just the desire/need to express yourself and then to express yourself.

 

It all depends on why what is being done is being done so to dismiss something as not being art without knowing the motivation behind it is narrow minded to say the least.

I disagree..art is in the eye of the artist..but yes no rights nor wrongs..if it's art to the artist then it is art
