Why Don't We Get This Sort of Publicity

Did we get this sort of positive message from our local press when we got promoted last season?

 

How come we are always known as "cash strapped Port Vale" when our attendances were probably double in our promotion season than those of Burton this season.

 

Think Smurf could do well to take note of this sort of good publicity

Maybe because there isn't a Premier League team 5 miles from Albion and because Burton run at a profit, where as Vale run at a loss? Just a thought

If the Sentinel had run a story like that then I'd have found it;

1. Patronising to say the least. This "publicity" just shows what a tin-pot club Burton Albion are.

2. Irritating that once again success in football HAS to be quantified by financial measures rather than the merits of sporting achievement.

Self contained town, not part of a city. But do not have it all thier own way, Derby is close by and were the only league team for decades, thus have a lot of support from Burton residents. Good luck to them.

There are also lots of Leicester City and Nottingham Forest supporters who live in the area plus Burton is smaller (in population terms) than Newcastle Under Lyme..

It is possible that we don't get the same level of publicity because there are always plenty of people to run the club down. This includes many "Supporters" and members of the management team.
