season ticket sales update

As there's less than ten days to go for loyalty renewal discount and then the early bird discount for new ST holders I thought it would be worth starting a thread so that those in the know can keep us informed on how many STs sold.

Anyone want to kick off with where we are currently up to?

I agree Norman is running the risk of starting a downward spiral of ST sales.

If Micky is intending staying he also needs to publicly say so as his budget is based on sales and the best way for him to boost sales is to publicly state he is staying.

Come on Norman and Micky let's be having a joint statement this week.

BTW I was told we have offered Lofty a new contract.

I'll renew when I'm good and ready. Smurthwaite certainly doesn't encourage me in the slightest. I haven't got cash to burn but I aren't being brow beaten by the club's owner to save a few quid.

He needs to remember that it is his responsibility to attract the fans. Not the other way around. Personally I don't feel that he is as loaded as he would have fans believe.

He should have been aware of the commitments needed to own a football club before he took the Vale over.

Having listened to Adams' comments this evening about next season's budget, etc. I'd be very surprised if he was still here.

NS thinks he knows everything about football clubs and contracts and fans but in reality he knows nowt.

The manager's position is pivotal in everything the Club achieves and not to get Adams signed up by now is criminal negligence and won't encourage a single soul to stump up for a ticket when he/she doesn't know what on earth is going on at the Club.

Would you buy something that you hadn't yet seen?

From memory I think Adams said something like this -

It was impossible to compete with teams like Rotherham because of the quality and size of their squad. He then went on to compare the subs' benches today and who they had to bring on.

Again he mentioned the reduction in the budget next year and when Phil Bowyers asked him if he'd still be here he didn't answer. There was an embarrassing silence/pause in the interview and getting no reply to his question Phil just said thanks very much and we returned to the studio.

No doubt someone can find a link.

But the more I hear from Adams the more I'm convinced he's off and if he has got irons in the fire elsewhere who can blame him?

He's achieved a minor miracle here in the last 20 months - from administration to tenth in Div 1 - and we badly need some stability, but he doesn't have a contract to sign because NS hasn't had the commons sense to get him signed up.

What a load of tosh, Old Sage. You'll renew your ticket as and when you're ready. Is September soon enough? You haven't got the cash.. It's never been a problem in previous seasons. Responsibility to attract fans. Wrong!! As I recall Bill Bell never went out of his way to attract fans yet he presided over one of the most successful periods in Vales history and that was because the success of the team managed by John Rudge attracted the crowds. The comments made by Mr Smurthwaite may not persuade fans to purchase tickets but there again, Old Sage, neither will yours.

I'm a little concerned that you appear to be privy to my financial state but that said I am even more concerned that a number of you seem happy to be told and led my the nose to renew without any reassurance with regard to next season. I'm sorry but I aren't happy to stump up my cash to possibly watch 'conference league kids' and God know who will be managing the team. One thing is for sure under these conditions it won't be Micky Adams.

By the way Coskickabo I have got the 'brass' so you must have been peeping into someone else's account. Could have been yours.

With regard to my comments not convincing others to renew. Well as much as I love Port Vale, I aren't the owner Smurf is and it is his job to put bums on seats.
