I am a firm believer that having a "spine" (goalkeeper, centre half, centre midfield, main striker) is pivotal to success. Neal is the start of that spine and we need him ready to start next season.

 

I agree George, but do you think he will be here, fit or not? I know he made an apparent statement recently suggesting he wanted to stay, BUT surely there will be a few Clubs after him, and after the recent debacles at the Club who would blame him for settling for some kind of stability elsewhere?

Why not take the youth kid in goal in the Staffs Cup as back up. Better than a player in goal if Sam gets injured and even if he doesn't feature it will be excellent experience for the kid.

 

To be honest, it's all been blown up to make political moves. How many times has Adams picked a squad with no sub keeper this season. Now he's fallen out with smurf it's suddenly a huge problem not having a sub keeper.

Chris Neal is a good keeper with experience and especially good at shot stopping at this level. Johnson looks promising and is better than Neal on crosses being taller. It is a good opportunity for him to develop and we can see how far he goes with that. It is a bit of a loss and a considerable opportunity given we should finish in a safe league position.

He didn't let us down earlier in the season in fairness so it won't be bad to give him a good run especially if we lose Neal in May.
