Hi, another Gills fan here. Can confirm the rain has just started in Gillingham and is supposed to be persistent until 4 or 5am Saturday.

We've had an awful lot of rain in the last few weeks but managed to get our last two home games against Wolves and Swindon played but in both cases the pitch was very heavy and cut up badly.

 

Hopefully the game will be on but think it will depend on how heavy the overnight rain is.

 

As for our away end we're also embarrased by it but apparently as it's a temporary structure the club cannot get planning permission to put a roof on it! The only solution would be to build a new stand but as we're are looking to move to a new stadium and we haven't got any money at the moment it's not going to happen.

 

The good thing about it is at least you get a decent unobstructed view of the pitch and the lack of roof is reflected in the £15 advance ticket price, cheaper than anywhere else in the stadium.

Apparently, the Football League will only allow waterlogged pitch postponements on the same day as the match is scheduled. So, even though they knew that last night's game between Sheff Utd and Peterborough was unplayable the day previously, they had to wait until an 8:30am inspection yesterday to confirm.

 

Peterborough v Colchester off already due to waterlogged pitch, so that blows that rule out of the water!!

Wind and Rain picking up down here now so fingers crossed for those lanning to travel they make an early decision.Not looking forward to sitting in that Jean Kelly stand (singing in the rain) and think Gillingham should be made to put away fans somewhere more humane.

Gills just confirmed all surface water has been removed off pitch.

 

Ref isn't due to arrive until middday, he has final decision but pitch is looking good.
