I'd call the constant diving,falling etc cheating.Letting someone else get sent off for an offence that he commuted I'd also call that cheating,trying to gain an advantage.

My last word on the game.

 

When Spurs were thumped 6-0 at Manchester City it didn't make them suddenly a bad side. It just made Citeh a better one, that's all. Neither does this result make Vale a bad side. We pick ourselves up, move on and hopefully give Walsall a thumping on Saturday.

Apologies to Mr Duffy and all fellow OVFers for my impersonation of the referee in being mistaken in identifying Duffy as the player responsible for the suicidal pass that cost us the first goal instead of the real culprit, Griff. Sitting in the Railway I wasn't sure but that's a lame excuse! Must be why Adams took Griff off.

I still think if we could eliminate the utterly sloppy goals we keep conceding, as opposed to those well constructed by the opposition, we'd be a top six or seven team.

I thought we lost for a few reasons. We might have drawn but we made two bad mistakes in giving the ball away in a position where Preston could counter attack. It was there to see that Preston are a slightly better side than us in possession because they can move the ball more quickly and reliably. But the main thing that struck me was how good their defence was and particularly inside the box and in front of goal. We did put the ball in dangerous situations but they defended well and on the edge of the box they had very effective and active defence in closing down the man on the ball and outnumbering the Vale players in a particular part of the pitch despite being down to 10 men. I thought we missed Loft, but to be fair Preston are good side and it maybe the other players didn't shine as a result.
