Not sure about that but we do have 2 million single parent families who represent 26% of all families in the UK.

The term "single mother" is very rarely used in its correct sense.

 

In my understanding a real single mother is someone who's father of her child/children has past away.

 

Otherwise there's a father for those children out there somewhere!
