Did not go today as had a wedding, but listened to first half on radio. On more than 1 occasion they said his tackling was superb but he really needs to work on his passing, as he gave it away to easily and they nearly went on to score.

Again not my words as I did not attend.

Come on George his passing was shocking. If he could pass he would be ace. He tackled well and headed well too but don't say he's a good passer.
top game today for Griff, Cav can you tell me how many times Vale mustered more than four passes together? We need a player in midfielder feeding off Griff, like Brentfords number 4 Forshaw he was outstanding.

His passing was no worse than anyone else's on the pitch. He's no Beckham but I could count on one hand the amount of times he gave the ball away. In fact he made a few really good passes, particularly down the left to jones and Loft. People have a preconceived idea he can't pass and criticise him regardless of how he actually played.

His passing was ok, more than acceptable. His defensive work was top notch. One of our way players and more than worthy of his place in our side.

Griff is a ball winner and he does it brilliantly. He needs a picker upper. Lines is new at the mo but he'll get the gist soon enough. There was one particular moment in the 2nd half when the obvious pass was Griff in a build up to an attack but he was overlooked but I think in general the respect he gets from opposition players is obvious in that he's a hard but fair player.

Well said, he was the heartbeat of vale today, the haters have clearly already made there minds up that he's not good enough without watching his performance today

Apart from a 5 minute spell in the first half Griff was superb!A great point gained as many thought we would lose today.Brentford were impressive and had a couple of cracking players in midfield, especially the ex-Everton lad Forshaw!I spoke to Brentford fans after game and they were impressed with Vale and how quick we closed them down in the second half. They also said we played much better than quite a few teams in L1 last season and can't see us struggling!Let's stay positive and hope so.

L1 players misplace passes, some fewer than others, but as long as Griff keeps it simple he is worth his place, for his defensive contribution. Picking out with short passes players who can use the ball, who may not be as good at getting the ball, improves the team.

I haven't seen him since he returned to VP, but I always got confused by people claiming he can't pass. He must have one of the highest pass success %s at the club in recent years. He breaks play up and finds a man, and is composed. Compare that to the likes of Gary Roberts, whose passing people raved about despite his pass success % probably being much lower, yet 1 in 100 passes were a beaut over the top a la Gerrard. I know which I prefer.
