  1. I must admit he has given everything today has Loft. Glad he got the finish. Hopefully that will mean his confidence improves.
  2. We are playing pretty well, but these missed chances…how did Loft miss that? Chislett also missed an easy one.
  3. You’re right, the reason the recruitment was good was because we had a biggish budget for league 2. Flitcroft then signed good league 2 players and we did well. Budget in league 1 has been nowhere near enough. That same standard has given us this woeful outcome. The only reason academy youngsters have been anywhere near the first team is due to budget cuts, not because they are actually good enough. Thank Auntie Carol for our dire budget and impending relegation.
  4. Indeed. At many big clubs, transfer policy and recruitment is an entirely separate entity that is separate from a DOF
  5. Ah yes, it’s the disloyal fans who are not willing to support a club that has served up an appalling product for 18 months. Shame on us all. What it should say is that they don’t want to spend money on miserable football. We all love Vale, I have seen some right crap over the past decade, but I just don’t think there is a large number of people out there who want to dedicate themselves to that.
  6. A few other clubs having crap owners does not mean the definition of “superb” for Carol is accurate. They “will ultimately stump up the money needed to right the wrongs should we be relegated” is entirely baseless. I hope they do, but they have not stumped up the money to keep us competitive in league 1 and our squad is appalling. My hope is riding on her using the Synectics sale money on the club. There will be a lot less money around in league 2 with 3k fewer season ticket holders. That isn’t because of Flitcroft solely buying duff players, it’s because they were the standard we could afford.
  7. What makes them superb? Struggling to come up with anything that justifies that. Getting rid of Smurfwaite? Even Carol herself can’t come up with much more in her letter than delivering Covid dinners 3 years ago.
  8. Agreed. He is a legend and doesn’t need more aggro. We need to focus on getting his statue up.
  9. Agreed. That’s where the money needs to go!
  10. Right decision of course, but I bet he has been paid off and what next? I personally think ultimately we need to spend much more on the squad for a decent go at league 1. Can’t see that happening.
  11. Values? Cheap. That’s the only value that matters. It’s the Vale way. We’re a football league poundland.
  12. Money. Better ask Carol for that. I don’t know why we keeping asking “Mr Flitcroft” for that as Carol needs to sanction a better budget for said decent players.
  13. It appears based on this article that Crewe remain a well run club despite their previous poor record on child safeguarding. How many of these sound ideas are in place at Vale? Data, deals and Airbnbs: the plan driving Crewe’s promotion push | Crewe Alexandra | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM
  14. Biggest difference is (a) the statue was funded by Waltham Forest Council so they spent public money on that (b) the Kane statue actually exists and we only have a micro miniature of the Rudge statue
  15. Read it and I thought, more fool the idiot bankrolling him. So that’s Carol then? When you read it, it blames Flitcroft for hiring previously relegated players or inexperienced ones, yet the ones with proven league 1 or Champ experience that the article suggests is needed would cost a lot more money.
  16. Absolutely. In fact in many ways the poor midfield is the worst of the lot. Even with Arblaster and Devine going forward it looked a bit poor down the middle. Right now? Totally disjointed
  17. He might come back, but he will need 6 games to be back up to speed. We also had Arblaster and Devine for all his matches except the Blackpool one where we just had Devine.
  18. This one seems different because the Bruno/Brown season still saw us look like getting a win from somewhere. This squad does nothing and has not looked like remotely winning since Blackpool
  19. Absolutely. The idea that Vale are amazingly run and Carol is just being conned by Flitcroft is laughable. Having said that Stevenage have been owned by Phil Wallace since 1999 and they almost and should have fallen out of the football league but were saved by Covid ending the season. They have had plenty of ups and downs during his ownership but always seem to bounce back. The continuity of ownership seems to have paid off. Even so, despite how well they were doing their home attendance for a home tie V Orient with over 1,000 away fans was lower than that for our dire game V Oxford. They just bought in better players. I saw what they were signing in the summer and thought it blew away our feeble business.
  20. Her son would have no job anywhere else. Vale are giving him a bit of self importance. He isn’t going to rock the boat. Nobody will.
  21. Agreed. The next three games, Burton, Rovers at home and Northampton are ones you’d usually say we could get something from.
  22. Actually Burton on the same points as Cambridge so a win would guarantee 3 points from safety.
  23. There were also many people on here strongly of the belief that from the available candidates Moore was the best man for the job. I myself, felt he was easily the strongest candidate on paper and many praised Flitcroft and Carol for what was seen as a coup.
  24. Nobody is saying Crosby is good. What I am saying is that Moore has not made us any better, in fact worse, as no way would we best Blackpool 3-0 today. Crosby deservedly got the push, but Moore looks worse so far. You’d expect a bit of magic if he was truly good.
  25. Nope, I’m saying Crosby did do that but Moore coming in has left that looking an impossibility now. It is just unimaginable.
