  1. Agreed. He is a legend and doesn’t need more aggro. We need to focus on getting his statue up.
  2. Agreed. That’s where the money needs to go!
  3. Right decision of course, but I bet he has been paid off and what next? I personally think ultimately we need to spend much more on the squad for a decent go at league 1. Can’t see that happening.
  4. Values? Cheap. That’s the only value that matters. It’s the Vale way. We’re a football league poundland.
  5. Money. Better ask Carol for that. I don’t know why we keeping asking “Mr Flitcroft” for that as Carol needs to sanction a better budget for said decent players.
  6. It appears based on this article that Crewe remain a well run club despite their previous poor record on child safeguarding. How many of these sound ideas are in place at Vale? Data, deals and Airbnbs: the plan driving Crewe’s promotion push | Crewe Alexandra | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM
  7. Biggest difference is (a) the statue was funded by Waltham Forest Council so they spent public money on that (b) the Kane statue actually exists and we only have a micro miniature of the Rudge statue
  8. Read it and I thought, more fool the idiot bankrolling him. So that’s Carol then? When you read it, it blames Flitcroft for hiring previously relegated players or inexperienced ones, yet the ones with proven league 1 or Champ experience that the article suggests is needed would cost a lot more money.
  9. Absolutely. In fact in many ways the poor midfield is the worst of the lot. Even with Arblaster and Devine going forward it looked a bit poor down the middle. Right now? Totally disjointed
  10. He might come back, but he will need 6 games to be back up to speed. We also had Arblaster and Devine for all his matches except the Blackpool one where we just had Devine.
  11. This one seems different because the Bruno/Brown season still saw us look like getting a win from somewhere. This squad does nothing and has not looked like remotely winning since Blackpool
  12. Absolutely. The idea that Vale are amazingly run and Carol is just being conned by Flitcroft is laughable. Having said that Stevenage have been owned by Phil Wallace since 1999 and they almost and should have fallen out of the football league but were saved by Covid ending the season. They have had plenty of ups and downs during his ownership but always seem to bounce back. The continuity of ownership seems to have paid off. Even so, despite how well they were doing their home attendance for a home tie V Orient with over 1,000 away fans was lower than that for our dire game V Oxford. They just bought in better players. I saw what they were signing in the summer and thought it blew away our feeble business.
  13. Her son would have no job anywhere else. Vale are giving him a bit of self importance. He isn’t going to rock the boat. Nobody will.
  14. Agreed. The next three games, Burton, Rovers at home and Northampton are ones you’d usually say we could get something from.
  15. Actually Burton on the same points as Cambridge so a win would guarantee 3 points from safety.
  16. There were also many people on here strongly of the belief that from the available candidates Moore was the best man for the job. I myself, felt he was easily the strongest candidate on paper and many praised Flitcroft and Carol for what was seen as a coup.
  17. Nobody is saying Crosby is good. What I am saying is that Moore has not made us any better, in fact worse, as no way would we best Blackpool 3-0 today. Crosby deservedly got the push, but Moore looks worse so far. You’d expect a bit of magic if he was truly good.
  18. Nope, I’m saying Crosby did do that but Moore coming in has left that looking an impossibility now. It is just unimaginable.
  19. I would just say this for Crosby. Can you imagine, if we played Blackpool at home next week that we would win 3-0? That pretty much sums it up for me, Moore has not increased hope, only wiped it out. The only player on that pitch who we had then who we don’t have now was Devine, although Uche is of course injured.
  20. Donaldson seems to be a bit of a Mo Chaudry figure. Likes a bit of positive publicity, but I doubt will put the big money in. Personally, I hope we can find an investor to take Carol’s work to the next level. Despite all the aggro over Flitcroft, I simply don’t think anyone could see anything more than mid table league 1 football on our current resources, even if they were used as effectively as possible.
  21. Bell from memory was always derided for being mean with money and lining his own pockets at the expense of the club. However Rudgie seems to praise him quite a bit in the book for making funds available and doing his best to support players being brought in that he sold. There was always progressive investment for years at Vale from about 87 post Spurs cup win to 97/98. After that, we just seemed to keep having to sell anyone decent to survive.
  22. Carol is worth £180m after selling Synectics. If she wants to spend, she certainly could. Robbie loves Robbie and has enough adoration from his fans. When he is about 70 and he wants a bit of glory again or a legacy before he dies off, he might fancy a go. Can’t see it myself .
  23. Robbie has been sucked into nothing. He is the one getting all the plaudits and love. Can’t say Carol has got much time or money out of him
  24. So it’s not the talent or the ability of the team that will see the club through, but the fact that they are good mates?? Dear god, that might be what wins you matches in a pub team with your mates but if players think that’s enough in league 1 to make a difference, they are deluded.
  25. Indeed and lest we forget the most number of seasons at 2nd tier level without being promoted to the top one of any other club.
