In fairness pre season friendlies are are pretty pointless for fans, the players aren't bothered about them so not sure why we should.

I agree, but to be fair friendlies are the only chance you might get to see Vale playing beyond our shores , and frankly playing in a European capital city (be it just across the water) is a bit different to your usual pre-season matches at Newcastle Town or Kidsgrove. I've never been to Dublin before so having a couple of days away to somewhere new, along with it coinciding with a Vale game seems quite appealing.

I'd like us too actually play a friendly against a prem side, don't really see the point in Ireland, I suppose if we win its good moral boost, but if we get tanked then I'm afraid it won't be good for moral, as these are probably equivalent to league 2- conference...
