Officially PROMOTED!!!!

After all the hard work earlier in the season--Pity we couldn't have had a better run-in in the final third of the season and finished second, but would have gladly accepted third if I'd been offered that the season's start!

Absolutely spot on in both points you make. Sounds a bit negative, but to be totally objective, the last third of the season was really frustrating with only 4 wins in the the last 16 games which isn't exactly promotion form. Thank goodness for the good start we had earlier in the campaign, but as you say, I think we would have all taken 3rd spot if offered at the season's start!

Limped over the finish line?? Christ almighty, is there any pleasing some of you?

In our last 8 games we have had to play 3 of the 4 play off teams, a resurgent Chesterfield team, an in form Rochdale and 2 clubs battling for survival.

We went 8 unbeaten! Only Rotherham, Bradford and Rochdale accumulated more points in the last 8 games than we did. Thats right, 20 other teams picked up less points than us in the last 8 games. If we were limping over the line i dread to think what the other 20 were doing!

Superb end to a great season.

But we only won four out of the last 16 games.

From my distant viewpoint here in Scotland I found the last third of the season very frustrating inasmuch that we dominated most that went before then seemed to take the foot off the gas. As for not many mentions in the press, well, I think that's a good thing - go up a division "under the radar" so to speak! Expectations for next season, while I'm optomistic, I think it'll be a case of ensuring to get the points needed to survive initially and then, if we can do that, find a ruthless attitude that means draws instead of losses and then take it from there. I think that the team has done remarkably well with all that came with this season and I'd prefer 3rd spot & no glory (relatively) than the lottery of the play-offs. Here's to next season!

the fact of the matter is yes we are promoted, it was very very important to get over the finish line, however the drop in form since christmas has been terrible and worrying. we have limped over the finish line.......just... and anyone who thinks we dont need any massive improvements in the team before the new season are deluded. results have been poor since christmas and if we dont invest big time for next season, we will have our ***** handed to us in plenty of games and we will be back in league 2 before you can say up the vale

I have to say local media have served us rather better than those nationally.

Say what you like about RS, they gave us our own programme on the day of the Northampton match and regional Late Kick Off have featured us quite extensively the last couple of weeks; and that's before tonight's goes out.

We'll just have to wait until we replace Stoke in the Prem for us to get national coverage. :shifty:

And I bet it would be better than Stoke have got as well because we don't play Pulis ball.
