No, I think that Claridge scored both Cambridge goals (certainly one of them anyway).

Claridge scored a goal where he spun and hit a volley in one movement, Vale scored two great team goals before a player called Michael Danzey scored a last minute equaliser after shoddy marking at a set-piece.

The 6-0 romp against a very poor Barnet side was the first highlight of 1993/1994 for me. I stood on the Hamil End of Lorne Street that season, apart from the FA Cup 4th round tie against Wolves, when I sat in the Bycars End. A few Wolves lads had sneaked tickets for this stand and 4 or 5 jumped up, rather foolishly, when Wanderers hit their opener. Thankfully, they were dealt with quickly. The 4-0 home defeat to Reading in October was bizarre. They had 4 decent attacks and made us pay with them all. I recall an horrific Swansea City away kit adding much needed colour to a damp, misty November afternoon in Burslem. Thankfully, we ran out 3-0 winners. Allen Tankard hadn't had the best of starts as a Port Vale player. An easy target for the boo boys until his screamer sent Huddersfield Town out of the FA Cup under the Friday night floodlights. I helped to clear the pitch of snow in order for the Christmas fixture against Leyton Orient could go ahead. Just before Christmas we were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley. Robbie Williams had done live Saturday morning kids TV and boasted how he was off to watch his beloved team later that day. Two teenage girls stood directly to my left and I'd say that they watched 20% of football, missed Bernie Slaven's goal, and spent the other 80% of their time with eyes frantically scanning the directors enclosure. The month of February saw two vital home wins over our promotion rivals, Stockport and Plymouth. There was a lad in my A Level Politics group who was a huge Plymouth fan. His family had moved up here and were living in Loggerheads. He never showed for any of our 4 lectures that following week, then had the raw nerve to ask me for my notes to catch up! I went to the promotion sealing game at Brighton with the Kalamazoo Kid. We travelled down on a coach organised by the Port Vale members of the Birches Head Hotel. The match speaks for itself, although we ended up in Chelsea, 'Yah, yah super.' after our driver got a little carried away. Still made it back to Burslem in fairly decent time. And finally, who can forget the end of season celebration game against Genoa. What was the crowd again? REALLY? Oh right!
