Armstrong is the druggie that beat all the other druggies. IMO, protesting his innocence when challenged about his drug taking is as bad if not worse than taking the drugs themselves.

I think it would be better if they allowed all athletes to take whatever substances they needed for better performance. We could see a 100m sprint in 6/7 seconds, javelin throwers throwing out of the stadium etc, much more entertaining. It's their choice after all

I've always wondered whether that was the only way to provide a level playing field. Because the main thing drugs do is let you train longer and harder. But I'd be extremely reluctant due to the fact that most athletes don't take them (I hope) and it would be unfair to them.

I watched the first part of his interview with Oprah last night and he seemed a broken man who showed a lot of contrition. I think he is going through a process and is looking for redemption and forgiveness from those he hurt. I was impressed. The second part was broadcast last night and I have it recorded to watch later.

He'll soon wish the only thing he had to worry about was saddle sore, particularly when he's having some 'special time' with Julio and his hareem on C wing!

I think if he really wanted forgiveness, he would have admitted it to the people that really mattered, like the cycling authorites and community, the people it actually affected, including the journalists whose careers he practically destroyed.

 

Doing this in the comfy surroundings of Oprah is highly cynical to me, a controlled environment for damage limitation. No sympathy or forgiveness, horrible man.

But do I need to? all staged, pre planned to make everyone that watches it come to the same conculsion that you have, no doubt he'll win an oscar for his performance. PR working at its best and your comments seem to back this up, whatever you do don't watch the shoppng channel.

I think it is advisable to watch the interview before you reach any sort of conclusion. But that's your decision. I haven't reached any conclusion. I am just interested to see the process that is taking place. I don't believe for one minute that it was "staged". If you take the trouble to watch, you can judge the body language and the responses to the questions.

Their opinion is that he didn't seem sad or remorseful, but as you say I will have to make my own mind up. But either way, it doesn't change what he did, why he did it and how aggressive he was towards those who tried to stop him.

 

And he denied it all until this was no longer an option.

I bet he doesnt feel remorseful going back to his mansion that his cheating bought him. Did he also sue someone for saying he used drugs a few years back?
