Madjo did well for us but I think we should be setting our sights on a better calibre of player.

Should be aiming for better now. He is a player we aimed for when we were on the verge of administration. Look at where aldershot are, and they are getting rid. People judge him based on one game.

Well, we were a few minutes away from signing Lee Hughes. So that kind of ability.

I actually think it is very difficult to get players to drop down a league or two nowadays as the money they are getting can rarely be matched and most players are not going to take a big cut. (how have barnet got Davids?)

 

and there doesnt seem to be an 'andy jones' or 'ian taylor' round the corner.

Although mad joe did ok for us, mainly hat trick vAldershot, if he aint good enough for shots he aint good enough for us.

I am NOT suggesting that we make with what weve got. I am merely pointing out the state of football at the moment. The above mentioned teams will be looking to strengthen there squads, but will find it no easier than vale to attract players of higher calibre. Also my origional post was asking the the question about madjo, nothing would make me happier than if VP became an 'elephants graveyard' and have 5 or 6 ex prem/championship players to get us up to where we want to be, but those days are gone. I will be very pleasantly surprised if we bring in a 'big(ish) name' during the window.

Im not suggesting massive signings. Im suggesting that if we are to get promoted, then cast offs from relegation fodder are not the answer.
