Mr Plant in the Sentinel

The Independent 13th October 1998 - if you Google you will find the following

John Rudge's position as manager of Port Vale continues to hang in the balance. Rudge, whose 19 years at Vale include nearly 15 as manager, called for "clarification" from the chairman, Bill Bell, after Stephen Plant reportedly resigned from the board in protest against a proposed cut in coaching staff.

But a statement insisted that Plant was voted off because of "serious misconduct".

Also this on the club site:

"Former Port Vale director Stephen Plant has said that he may be prepared to consider forgoing on all the damages and costs recently awarded to him following his recent court case involving board members which is over £100,000"

Did he ever invest/forgo the money he won off the club back into V2001?

Dear All,

I have this morning received a phone call bringing Mr Plant's comments to my attention.

I would be interested to know in what capacity Mr Plant comments:

(a) As a representative of PVFC and/or the Board or any individual member thereon or

(b) In his own right and not on behalf of PVFC and/or the Board or any individual member thereon.

Perhaps Mr Plant would be kind enough to clarify to us all.

In any event Mr Plant should remind himself of the revised bid which received widespread media coverage yesterday.

Upon Mr Bratt's public invitation in The Sentinel last Saturday, Mr Chaudry offered to buy 24.9% of new shares (subject to due diligence). Likewise Mr Sims offered to buy 24.9% of new shares (subject to due diligence).

The timing of Mr Plant's letter to The Sentinel seems a tad unfortunate in the aftermath of the press coverage yesterday (but that is just my humble opinion). However I find it interesting Mr Plant sees fit to comment upon an historical matter not related to this current bid, and in doing so bringing into question Mr Chaudry's motives and integrity. I furthermore note that whilst Mr Plant seems anxious to inform people of Mr Chaudry's alleged past, he makes no comment or criticism of life-long PVFC fan and sponsor Mr Sims. Mr Plant thus appears a little selective in his comments and one could be forgiven for asking him why?

One could also be forgiven on the face of Mr Plant's letter, coupled with his previous communications, in thinking he does not support the bid and the desire of many for change. Again, perhaps Mr Plant would be kind enough to enlighten us all so we know where he stands.

In any event in the scheme of things, Mr Plant's comments are of no consequence - but worthy of this one post in response.

Having said that I do not expect Mr Plant to respond through this forum, but then again Mr Deakin in his capacity as CEO can certainly clarify points (a) and (b) above as it is important we know in what capacity Mr Plant purports to make these comments.

Thank you.

Just added this comment to the article

Looks like Bill has sent a boy to do a man's job here.

Mr Plant are you writing on behalf of the board if so I would imagine they are thoroughly ashamed of your petty attempts to discredit the man who is the future of our club.

I just hope that someone has a dig into your own background and repays you in kind.

I assume Plant writes as a stooge, since he does not quote his employers name. Surely the tactics of a board on thier last legs, and something they do not need to do. As it is obvious to all on here that thier press statements/ Q&A charades are published as the board request, whereas MC,B&G,NLV and others, whose statements appear on here first, end up in the Senile heavily edited and distort the meaning to the boards advantage.
