It may well be that there are some people who will go to this game only because it's £10.00. And it's hard to think we would have taken a 1,000 following to Walsall had it not been reduced price.

As for it "not being the way of football these days", that's more true of the leagues outside the Premiership and the Championship. I live in Birmingham and Blues, Villa, Albion and Wolves have all had promotional offers for more than one fixture already. Indeed Wolves had a £40 ticket for four people yesterday, Blues had an £18 offer last week, Villa are always offering deals as are Albion - depsite them having their best season in decades.

Ad it happens, I can see us taking a monster following to this one. It fits all the criteria for a great Vale exodus....Northern, not too far, traditional ground, club and city, lots of scope for songs about Micky Adams and abuse about Ched Evans, affordable tickets...and we're flying in the league.

I'm setting off today.

The stewards at Walsall had been told to expect 300 from Vale for the JPT. We took 1,000. Had they charged normal prices 300 would have been about right. At a tenner a head they made more money. I expect the same to apply at Sheffield. In addition, anything we make out of the Sheffield game will be a bonus and will not have formed part of the budget. We could have been drawn away at Crawley and made fourpence out of the tie so I'm delighted with the price.

how some fans don't grasp that point blows my mind

What makes you think its not grasped?

As Jean says the attendance at Walsall was around treble (from the Vale) so as far as the away fans at least (dont know the home crowd attendance) more cash was taken through the turnstile.

What I am saying is that reducing the entrance fee as low as that wont increase the cash taken at the turnstile and wont earn the Vale as much money as if it had been made £15 and £10 - that's my opinion.

So on the basis that we would have taken 2,000 at £15/£10 at least, and Sheff Utd 2nd Round draw home match attendance has already been put on here - lets see what the attendance is on the day and see if the decision made financial sense.

I'm sure we can all agree that it will be a great day.
