Hello! New to the forum, and no idea if this has been discussed on here before (embarrassing if so), but you've been in talks with Ben Waine for a while now. He was released from Plymouth in the summer.

Thanks for this. I guess the obvious question is, is he any good?

He is tall, athletic, fast, has a really good attitude and is a really nice guy as well - was very popular with the Plymouth fans. Personally don't think he was given a proper chance there because he was competing with Morgan Whittaker and Ryan Hardie most the time.

The Carlisle fans on the forum I go on didn't really take to him positively.

Yes he is a strange one really, did quite well with Sunderland, has League One and Championship experience,he signed for Blackpool for an undisclosed fee last August then signed for Carlisle for an undisclosed fee a few months later in January

They’re rumours.  As for Embleton, I think he’s played much of his career at League 1 level and above, so not a bad shout if we’re looking for another player in midfield.

Oh I agree and if we do sign him then you would think we dont want another struggle in the middle when a couple get injured like we did during our bad run last season

If he can run in from behind then he does fit the profile of striker we seem to be after

Do you know him at all ?

After bringing in Wynne and now apparently targeting Waine I wonder if Darren Moore has a NZ contact?

Neglecting to mention that he is almost permanently injured! Can't see this one being legit.

Regarding Ben Waine and Elliot Embleton, it would be pretty disappointing if we signed either of those.

We don’t need another midfielder just to make up the numbers, we now have 5 midfielders in byers, garrity, croasdale, walters and shipley, rico to fill in there if needed and we still have ojo on the books. We only really need a young midfielder on loan to add to that unless we can make a statement signing instead.

And Waine couldn’t even get into mansfield’s team the 2nd half of last season, and we all know how poor they were in January onwards.

Asked a Mansfield fan about Waine and he said "awful signing for you guys, nowhere near L1 standard"

Anyone heard the Ollie Palmer rumour we have made a bid for him apparently

I've not heard the rumours but funnily enough I was wondering if he may be a target. Wrexham will be strengthening for the Championship and he's out of favour. From our perspective, he's experienced and it's not a massive move geographically for him from Wrexham to Vale. I guess it depends on what wages he's on.

No idea wages wise I no he went to Wrexham for 300k would be the ideal player to fight for that Stockley position at 6ft 5

it is all about wages. 300K signing for Wrexham and no doubt a nice package with that. He will have to take quite a cut to come to us.. I guess it's all about what other offers he has.

Not heard that one BUT I would certainly take Palmer as long as he didn't want a stupid wage

Goalkeeper Scott Flinders has left Mansfield after being unable to reach a new deal. Could be decent competition for Amos

Just read he's 39 years old so perhaps not
