Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Featured Replies

With some of the deadwood going out i think we wont see movement on them players until close to deadline day when teams become desperate. Non of our players that we all wouldnt want to see next season will be anywhere near top of other clubs lists of targets. But once it gets to deadline day id imagine a few might get some offers and at that point they will probably realise they arent going to get much game time at the vale

I know we are way off this yet( and I mean way off but you never know) but it just shows how promoting youth in the Championship is worthwhile as Brentford are paying 40m plus add ons for Leeds 18yr old Archie Gray

So no matter what level we are at promoting from the youth team will be financially very important to the club, this is also why we need to get back to League One asap as values will increase if you perform at the next level and are of a young age.... Dipepa and Shorrock have both shown that

Were about to but the deal is on hold. Leeds did not like the payment of the transfer fee, I believe.

Agree regarding the youth policy.

Patience is a virtue. Three weeks ago we were having meltdowns we'd only signed one player - now we've added four more. Moore clearly has a plan - if we don't get a centre half this week then there's still plenty of time.

Totally agree but i aren't that sure we were in meltdown on here, yes we were saying others have made signings but thats not a meltdown,it shows by the calibre we have got in so far that we are shopping a little higher than poundland now.

The rest of the signings will come as you say

Smith to Stockport rumour, anybody? £300,000.

Can't see it but, if so, should be able to reinvest and possibly upgrade.

True but it’s definitely better to get the squad together earlier if possible in order to get that squad unity & let them gel but that’s not always possible for various reasons. Some very good signings so far which I’m happy about & as you say there’s no need to panic especially now.. I think a centre half & a keeper & we are pretty much good to go myself. Maybe a right back for cover

DM himself said he wants the majority together for pre season and that's the reason I think at least a couple more will come in next week ready for the friendlies to start and give them time to Gel together plus the fact free agents wont be paid after today

That supposed rumour has been knocking about a week or two mate. Can’t see it either

Yeah I expect another body or two to follow suit this next week 👍🏻 But if it doesn’t happen the business so far has been pretty decent anyhow

Well at least the rumoured value has dropped from 500k

I dont think there is anything in this one tbh

IF players like Chislett and Garrity start the season well then that's when clubs are liable to put a bid in like you say close to deadline day,we just have to have plans in place incase that happens.... replacements lined up

No chance Smith would go for anywhere near that kind of money.

  • 1 year on his contract
  • Not young, and not going to get much better than he is
  • Can't pass the ball
  • Never consistently done much in League 1

There's a lot of CBs out there who do similar things to him. If anyone spent more than 100k on him they're nuts.

This excerpt from today's edition of The Valiant says it all, doesn't it?

Remember two years ago when Vale kicked off their first season back in League One with teenage midfielder Tommy McDermott as an emergency centre forward at Exeter? Or last season when Ryan Loft was signed right on September 1 deadline day, followed a month later by Uche Ikpeazu who hadn’t played for eight months so naturally needed time to get up to speed.

It’s not that they weren’t spending money. They paid a fee for Ellis Harrison in August two years ago* and did the same for Ryan Loft last year.**

But by getting Jayden Stockley and Lorent Tolaj into the building before pre-season training has even started in earnest, the club and Darren Moore appear to be giving the side the best chance of hitting the ground running

* 3 games into the season

** 7 games into the season

If Norwich are fine with loaning out Brad Hills again I'd hope we'd be really interested.

Over the next week or so it would be nice to see  CB(obviously) a full back and a wide man come in and then I think we might add a loan keeper and possibly a loan forward(no longer urgent though)

Just seen that he was at Accrington last season so maybe so although if they loan him out they might want to try him in an higher League next?
