January Transfers and Rumours

The farcical 2 club rule means (I think) that Scarlett can't be loaned out again - played for Spurs in the League Cup.

Makes you wonder why he’s been recalled unless Spurs want him to play in/be available for the first team otherwise he’ll just be limited to non-league (u23) football.

Guess they'd rather have him training with them + their coaches and playing in their very good U21 team than not getting a kick at Ipswich. He isn't playing either way.

Spurs have cracking forward called Jamie Donley who reminds me of Wilson a bit.

Donley came on for Spurs at Man City in December

Think had seen an interview with Big Ange where he said it was pretty much due to Scarlett not getting time on the pitch. That and they have the AFCON and Asian Cup on soon guess they just calculated to bring him back now.

I get the impression it’s more than that after Crosby post match. He’s described Ben as now going to be “long term”

I'm not sure we will see Garrity again this season. Sounds like he has been playing with a knock for some time & it has eventually caught up with him. A hugh loss to us.

He has been outstanding for us since he joined the club, potentially goes down as one of our best signings in terms of importance, based on the fact we had zero expectations when he signed for the club. Credit to himself & the recruitment team.

He's probably made the decision to fix it permanently, rather than get bandaged up & come back in a rush. Maybe squeeze a few games in before the end of the season to test his recovery, but not back full tilt until next season, if we can keep hold of him in the summer. He will 100% have suitors.

Big shoes to fill. If you'd have asked me 3 weeks ago which 4 players I'd not want to lose from our starting 11, it would've been Arblaster, Ojo, Garrity & Ripley. 3 of those now gone/out for the foreseeable. A real test.

It’s going to be tough now with the budget. A position we surely will have to reconsider now.

Devine started slowly but he's much better than average-poor.
I think Alfie looks a completely different player in the deeper role and he's really changed my mind on him. I thought he was superb yesterday and the driving force that kept us going. I too was a bit underwhelmed with him when he first arrived as he drifted out of games playing just off a striker (maybe because we didn't have one)

With our massive injury problems Alfie is vital to us now. We really need a minder type of physical player in midfield to look after him. Sang, Walters just not that kind of enforcer that we desperately need with Garrity out long term

Arblaster to Derby. Now that is a loan that makes literally zero sense why so ever.

Were there any decent transfer rumours doing the rounds in the pubs or around the ground yesterday?  I heard nowt.

There is no crystal ball for a lower league double figures goalscoring midfielder.

He's irreplaceable. All we can do is hope goals get shared about.

Dan Kemp at MK Dons? would cost though,i was thinking of him for if we had sold Garrity

They will prefer to have him in an environment where he's playing in a side battling for promotion rather than relegation.

If there can be any positive to the news about Ben Garrity it’s that most clubs will lose interest in signing him while injured.  Some may still have a punt though with a cheeky lower than market value bid because he is injured - saw on twitter Garrity to Bolton for £300k but am assuming it’s utter bolox.

It does if Derby want him and he fancies being closer to home. Although it means that he won't be able to play for Sheffield United this season

He’s still at league 1. In a brand new environment. When staring in a league 1 side were loved by fans. Makes literally no sense

A League One goalscoring midfielder(he must be near the top there when just midfielders are included) are like gold dust,if he was out of contract at the end of the season then yes maybe 300k but no way with 18mths left would or should we let him go for anywhere near 300k(I know this is only a silly rumour though)
