Sevilla beat Juventus last night to reach the Europa League final with a 37 year old, Jesus Navas, a 35 year old Papu Gomez, and a 35 year old captain Ivan Rakitic in the team! Also the winning goal was scored by 31 year old Erik Lamela. Age is not a barrier to playing good football. Didn't Andy Crosby say as much in a recent interview, which makes the decision to not give Wozza a two year contract difficult to understand. Wozza is relatively young compared to these people and unfortunately Barrow will have the benefit of his skill and experience, because we wouldn't give him an extra year on a new contract.

Somehow i carn't see Barrow playing him as a wing- back they  will play him further up the pitch which is possibly what he can do for another two seasons.I wish him well and thank him for his time at the vale and who knows like he said he might end up back with us has a coach in the future. But for now let us have some trust in our management to get the players in to take us the next step up to take us where we all want to be.

Barrow played 3 at the back at the end of last season.  They did play with a back 4 at times. In addition to been a very good player I'm sure they are interested in his versatility.  Interestingly  Ben Whitfield was sometimes used as a Left Wingback. When we had him he was good going forwards but didn't seem interested defending.

I can't help but think a player coach role would have worked for both?

Depends on whether Worrall wants to focus on playing still. Quite often the player part of player coach diminishes quite quickly. He'll be a long time retired, loves football and may just want to focus on playing. I'd be surprised if Barrow have offered him more money, it's the contract length and possibly that we were looking to recruit in his position so he would be less likely to start. On reflection the club were probably right not to offer a 2 year contract; he's 34 before the 24/25 season. I'm sure he can do a job I'm league 1 next year but beyond that is difficult to predict.

Spot on and there are loads of others like Bannan (who, at 33 played 120 minutes last night) and Kyle McFadzean playing in the Championship playoffs at 35 (having signed a two-year contract with Coventry when he was 34). Worrall's age is a complete red herring.

The truth is, imho, that for whatever reason the Vale didn't want him enough and he knew it, so he's off. A serious mistake if you ask me but then it's just my opinion.

Of the five out of contract players offered deals, the attention now turns to Garrity and the litmus test is whether the club can keep him. If he does sign, that's good news all round. If he doesn't then it will demonstrate that we can't keep our own players let alone attract new ones. That would be bad news all round, very bad.

Fingers crossed.

At the end of the day it all depends on who we sign to replace Wozza.

However the chances are we'll sign someone not as good or effective but a few years younger on a 2 year deal......yeh great piece of business.

Still cheesed off with this one.
