Rob, would it be possible to get Facebook style notifications for if someone quotes your comment? I have found so often I have made a comment, forgotten about it and people have replied. Just a thought.

 

This forum already has email notifications, I will look into the other kind when I raise enough to upgrade.

 

Again, one of the reasons I wanted to leave this forum is because I have exhausted all the features and we will struggle to get any new ones unless I raise enough to upgrade it.

I did not like the new forum one bit. Fair play Rob for changing back to this version, as on the whole im sure a lot of posters are very happy indeed.

Good job because it ain't changing! But thanks for the comments on the forum. Judging by the response we should be able to make some rapid progress on bringing it up-to-date.

 

My aim is to get the hosting server upgrade done first (and I probably have close to enough to do that on Monday) and then if money keeps coming to upgrade the forum...

It's basically a new forum licence and increased memory/resources for the server.

 

I have been planning this for around 3/4 months so I have explored many possibilties. Despite kind offers of hosting I want to stick with my current providers who have excellent customer service (and they want £120 to move the site onto a new platform and for increased monthly costs). I then need the latest version of VBulletin which costs around £220 (not £380 - that was actually $380 I got that wrong)...

Our ISP have been ace and investigated things. There were a few errant scripts caused by this forum (tsk! tsk!) but also the sheer load causes crashes so we need to move to the next level server. It will probably be done without any disruption but we need the donations first to fund it...

On my screen the quote button is on the left and also the post number where it says "#45" is also on the left. Both should be on the right normally.
