What would your opinion be if it was a cricket club, a tennis club or a brass band that the council had bailed out whilst hacking services and increasing council tax.

 

It's a truly magnificent gesture by the council I think.

I know a lot about local government including its financial management and statutory background. I know all the considerations that would have been gone through in deciding to support Port Vale and I understand the political pressures. Please be in no doubt that what the City Council has done for Port Vale is very 'administratively and politically' brave and they deserve a tremendous amount of credit. There will always be a considerable number of people who disagree with the decision and that is another reason why it is brave.
