Very surprising when we have a game on that most on here are still moaning on about politics? Give it a rest for the day dudes. It is boring.

As a statistical anomoly are Tranmere the first English professional team to lose 2 consecutive officially sanctioned games on penalties?

It's very rare to play consecutive cup games.

All in all I think more positives for Vale than Tranmere as there side was pretty much a first 11 minus Vaughan whereas we played 3 players without an EFL game.

Montano and Rodney both did well on the left. Best 45 minutes as a winger I've seen from Montano in a while. Has he convinced the manager he is a viable option further forward?Do we need a fifth winger with Fitzpatrick looking comfortable at leftback? An alternative may be to keep some funds until January and sign a loan player for double the weekly wage for the run in. Is Rodney now a definite in our first choice front 3?

Hurst did ok until he ran out of steam in the last 20 minutes. He reminds me a little of Hannatt. Does he need another loan or does he need to start get bench time to progress? A non-league loan is recallable after a month and I think he needs to go somewhere at some point. I certainly think he's good enough to start half a dozen games if needed without becoming a liability.

Defence all looked solid.

Visser looks a lot better than he seemed when Askey was umming and ahing about signing him. Should he start all the cup games and Brown league games?

Oyeleke in the holding role looked comfortable.  There have been a few players with chronic hamstrings who prolongued careers by dropping deeper. Is he the natural replacement for Joyce in that area?

Dan Trickett-Smith looked comfortable although tired late on. First half particularly put in some good cross-field balls to Montano.  Definitely added aggression to his game. Too old to really benefit from a long loan. On what I saw in friendlies and last night I would groan if he was playing. I suspect he's at least made Askey wonder what to do with him.

Robinson still looks short of fitness .... so does Cullen. The centre of the front 3 is going to be the big call for Saturday. On the last 3 games I'd start with Worrall, Rodney and Montano.

I think Askey is starting the league campaign with more questions than answers; in a positive way. One or two have made him stop and think. I suspect there are one or two nailed on starters from a month ago who may be reviewed over the next 48 hours. Personally I think Rodney and Fitzpatrick will probably get starts on Saturday, who weren't in my side a month ago. Mills will also start but mainly down to injuries elsewhere.

Barrow have done it also.
