How ironic it all is

Looking at these articles you'd think we'd got a time machine and gone back ten years, the situations almost identicle just different faces. Some of the early claims of v2001 to have brought financial prosperity to the club also made me laugh.

As you can see replace Bill Bell with v2001 (ironically) and the v2001 takeover bid at the time with Mo's takeover attempt and its uncanny. Just hope if Mo did takeover the club history doesn't repeat itself and we're back to square 1 in 2021-22. In reality this club hasn't really been financially secure or stable for nigh on 12 years now, this really does need to be sorted early on in this decade if we have any hope of a future in the league in this millennium. Like I said I don't think that this club (based on above evidence) has been stable at any point since the turn of the Millennium. I wonder if any club has been in a crisis for this long before, we must be some kind of record surely. Thanks for listening:cool:

I found this sentence particulary ironic

“Maybe if the members of the board spent more time putting in place a proper business strategy, and less getting themselves embroiled in all manner of costly legal wrangles, the club wouldn’t have to sell its best player to the first bidder waving a cheque book."

if you read mark cheathams fans view you would think it had been done jan 2012 not 10 years ago dont know how to put a link on but at bottom of that page above press back and you get onto it

As Mark said,

It’s more because something needs to happen at Vale Park – and it needs to happen fast, before it’s too late. It doesn’t take a genius to note the malaise currently surrounding the club. The absence of atmosphere at matches. The ever dwindling crowds. The growing sense of apathy and resignation amongst the fans. The still unfinished stand. On practically every level, Port Vale FC appears to be in terminal decline. A club dying on its feet.

Surely, now, the time is ripe for change at Vale Park. And the sooner we embrace this change, the sooner everyone – fans, players, management and directors alike – can all start pulling together in the same direction and get on with the job of making our once proud club great again.

Christ almighty. Was that written yesterday?

What can I say?

At the time, I thought it couldn't get much worse - and that V2001 represented the best way forward.

Couldn't have got it more wrong, could I - on both counts.

Was only talking on Saturday at the game to someone who sat on the same V2001 steering group, saying 'How could we have misread things, and the individuals involved, so badly?'

Naively, at the time, I thought we were helping usher in a change that would see a new broom sweeping though the corridors of power at Vale Park. In reality, they didn't even take a light duster to it, let alone a new broom. Bugger all changed - not even the initials of the chairman.

Hoh hum.

Oh dear.... this is embarrassing....

http://web.archive.org/web/20020707143622/http://valiant2001.com/html/press/19102001.htm

A spokesman for Valiant 2001 said: “First we learn that Vale’s short-lived Chief Executive, Dave Jolley, is threatening to sue the club after being sacked from the board. Lawyers must be rubbing their hands with glee. In recent years, litigation has cost the club hundreds of thousands of pounds – money which otherwise might have been spent on the team.

It begs the question, is this any way to run a football club? Once again, Port Vale’s reputation has been tarnished and the club made a laughing stock, leaving fans embarrassed, bewildered and increasingly concerned for the long term future of their football club. Valiant 2001 doesn’t get any comfort from this sorry situation at Vale Park. All we want is a chance to put things right. All we want is to see the club doing well both off and on the field.
