According to today's Sentinel, Adams is looking to get fresh, defensive faces in before Saturday; suggests that he doesn't rate Roe, James (even Green?) as good enough. Begs the obvious question.....

I still don't understand why we got rid of Kris Taylor, he wasn't the best defender in the league but he was a long way from being the worst, he got forward and took a good free kick!

Both of the Sheffield United lads Roe and James were from the Sheffield United youth team and must have been released probably

by Adams before the sack....so they are first year professionals and

just kids.

The reserve team back four that let in five was Raglan a first year professional at right back and Davis alongside James at centreback

and Roe at left back....Morsy and Burge infront in central midfield and the out of form Tomlinson in goal.

So in answer to the question the Sheffield lads are just first year professionals and not really part of the first team picture.

 

Now Williamson has got some games as Rigg and Ricco have been unavailable and Burge got match time in the cup but it would seem is behind the excellent Morsy while the first choice central midfield

is between Roberts,Grifith and Loft.So the Hoddle Academy lads are

just inexperienced fringe players.

 

Of the other signings McDonald once fully fit with a run of games could be good back up for McCoombe and Owen although Sutton was quicker and could play right back.....Green looks promising one minute and non-league the next.

All in all these are not the fringe players of a club with 8 million in the bank.

What's the point in having 'fringe' players if we get loan players in when first team players get injured? They'll just be released if they don't play.

Roe can't be any worse than Green who really looks very average indeed.

Am I dreaming or wasn't MA saying these young lads were all signed so he wouldn't need to keep dipping into the loan market, and that this was a change in how he intended to operate this season?
