Points based on current form

Just looking at the league table this morning and noticed that we so far have picked up on average of 1.75 points every game.

So 8 games at 1.75 points per game currently gives us our 14 points and sees us 5th in the table.

If we can keep an average of 1.75 points per game this will see us on at least 80 points come the end of the season which would be a definite playoff spot based on the points tally of playoff teams in league one since we got promoted.

I know there is a long way to go and a lot can happen over the season with drops in form, injuries, what happens in January's transfer window etc.. but they say you will have a rough idea of how the league table will shape up after 10 games, and so far not only does the table look good for us at almost the 10 game mark but the average points per game backs us up with a playoff spot.

Hopefully this can continue and as we start to gel a little more the average points per game may go up but only time will tell.

Thoughts?

We just need get the 50 point mark, then take it from there. As a couple of bad results can drop you 7 or 8 places at the moment. At half time yesterday, we were 13th in the table. Keeping Jones, Smith and Grant is vital in January for us to have any chance of making top 6 come end of the season. And improving the away form is also vital on where we'll end up.

We need to take it steady and not get ahead of ourselves. Keep calm and carry on, as I'm sure Bruno would advocate. There is a very long way to go and you're only as good as your last game. But the signs are promising at the moment and I'm sure there is more to come from most of these lads.

Of course, the sun will not last. But the old adage win at home and draw away still holds good, and a couple of injuries could put the dreams on hold. By the first round of the FA Cup we will have a better idea, but even then still a way to go. Enjoy the journey, game at a time.
