Bill Lodey

Recommended Posts

I've just remembered a bit in Chris Kamara's book in which Kamara describes Lodey's attitude when Kamara was racially abused at a Vale game, and subsequently lodged a complaint with the Vale. Tells you everything you need to know about the man.

I remember that game well, a 0-0 draw on 1st March 1998. Kamara falsely accused my brother-in-law of making the remarks at half time when the teams came off the field. In fact he was having a cup of coffee with me and he never even made any remarks to anyone. I would love to know what happened about the remarks as he was rightfully released mid way through the second half. Was anybody ever charged I wonder.

Racially abused at Vale surely not! I don't know anything of that as I've never read the planks book, surely the police would have been his first port of call if it did happen?

I've known the man for 30 years and speak as I find, he's a generous and professional man who helped a family friend and a lifelong vale fan at a very, very emotional time and nothing was too much trouble.

It would be interesting to establish how those people who have been personally hateful to him on this thread spoke to him to get the responses they have received as I don't recognise the man of which they speak but a couple have always had axes to grind. I can well imagine like most of us if he was spoken to in a less than courtious manner he would respond accordingly as he clearly isn't a person that suffers fools.

He was an employee of v2001 in all its guises and although I haven't spoken to him for quite a while know he wouldn't waste urine on any of them if they went up in flames. Has he faced any charges or action regarding his role?

I speak as I find, if others hate that's their choice, for me I always try to look for the good in people, in some cases I give up admittedly but life's too short.

Have any of them faced any charges yet? Just because he is courteous with people during eg. a bereavement, doesn't make him a saint. I have had a number of dealings with him, sometimes he was abrupt and rude, other times helpful and polite, despite me always speaking to him in a polite manner. Even when a group of us went in to visit Miller we were all polite with Lodey who shat his pants at the time. The bloke isn't subject to the ongoing legal investigation of the last lot for nothing. Short memories on here it seems for most and there is no hate on my part in forming my opinion, it's based on the facts to hand.

PS, ask the people who were involved with the Sproson Fund of their opinions of Lodey. The man was a complete snake to them and the process. If you were there you would understand, I was but don't think you were.

No I wasn't there.

Lots of mistakes were made with the Sproson fund and good people received abuse, don't see any of that being a justification to abuse another decent person.

We get it you and Melv don't like him, others think he's been a good servant. Let's leave it at that.

Over to you Hagrid...

I believe reading social media he also pulled the race card on Jim Melrose as a defence for his mindless cowardly violence when he was playing for Swindon against Shrewsbury and then retreated it?

I will obviously retract everything I've said and 100% believe an anonymous poster on a Port Vale forum 20 years after the incident.

Thanks for your work guys, case closed!
