Well, there's a lot to be miserable about but yes, I'd love us to pluck out a local lad and turn him to a gem

I don't know that there is, there has been a lot of hints that a big board room change is coming, we have put in two very good fighting performances, regardless of the fact we haven't won. Maybe some people need to go watch the cricket because we will blow India out of the water over the next five days and become world number one

Even if we did manage to attract significant investment (don't put AGS into that category) a club at our level would still need to be unearthing little non-league gems and developing players through the youth system to make any sort of progress or even just to stand still. So if this lad can make a go of it fairplay and don't forget Stuart Pearce was playing for Wealdstone when Cloughie took him to Forest.

Well thank-you very much to the SeO campaigners! As I said before, the board will just bring in dirt cheap options such as Sean to offset the losses made from match revenue which will lead to relegation. Thanks a lot.

So just to confirm, SEO is working now?

Give the lad a chance, there's always the odd rough diamond out there who may have originally slipped through the net. Ian Taylor is obviously the pick, but Rob Taylor hasn't been bad either.

One of the best teams that the Vale ever had was in the 1950's and made up from mostly local lads. Pool ,Miles, Cheadle, Askey, Leake, Griffiths etc. etc.

Pre SeO we saw players like Leon Constantine joining for £15,000 + wages.

You seem to make a bigger fool of yourself every time you post!

£15,000 wages? What, a week? That's laughable! That would be £800k a year, which was our entire wage budget for 2004/05!

I think he was on about the transfer fee being £15,000, although it was £20,000, then his wages on top.

Ooops my bad! I misread the plus so I apologise! I should probably read things better before I post so I take that back!

Although the point about SEO being to blame for that is still nonsense!

The Gary Roberts comment was deliberate! I've been taking hints from the people that do the BBC Live Text cricket commentary! Take for example the quote today:

1222

India 57-1

Dravid a little unhappy with the state of his bat here. He wanders over to Umpire Davis and points at something on the edge, and the official pulls out a pair of scissors from his pocket to trim helpfully. Bresnan on the rumble, and that's a nasty one - spitting up off the track, forcing Gambhir to go aerial and jab down off the splice. Very well played, to be fair, and **** start of usual mockers section **** these two batsmen are doing an excellent job of negating these bowler-friendly conditions at the moment ***** end of usual mockers section ****

20 minutes later India were 60-3! ===

I just thought I'd try it with Roberts and it worked! :D

Years ago before money spoiled the game this is how football worked.Non league players where picked up and some went on to be internationals.Give the lad a chance.

Thank god someone with sense. We are a fourth tier club, for various reasons, we should be looking at non league players. Lots of quality players Ian Wright, Steve Finnan, Stuart Pearce, Peter Beardsley etc slipped through the net and ended up in non league. Ok not everyone we have on trial will be that good but it worth a go.
