IMPORTANT: Server migration

Hi,

 

I am about to ask for all the OVF content to move from the old server (which has no more memory left) to a new server (with twice the memory capacity).

 

However, I do expect we will lose several days of forum posts. Why?

 

1. Well the hosting people will copy everything across from the old server. Let's say that was on a Tuesday.

2. You guys will continue posting as I ask the onevalefan.co.uk domain name to point to the new server.

3. In 24-28 hours the domain name will point to the new server but all posts posted since Tuesday (*n my example) won't be on the new server but on the old, redundant one.

 

Apart from the above we're hoping the migration will be without any disruption and OVF will continue to work as usual. However, you may have a few problems while the domain name points to the new server. If you do have problems take a note of our contact details in case the site is not available:

2. Email - [email protected]

 

Please note - I will not be too active either on the forum or with breaking news stories for a couple of days as I concentrate on the migration.

I was - the old forum was out of date and needed a full update and as i did it a load of spammers tried to register. Luckily they didn't get in and the forum seems to be OK.

Don't know if this is related to all the stuff that's happened over the last few weeks, but the box you tick to be remembered by the site (just below the username and password fields) is obscured by a banner advert so I keep getting logged out.
