I have loads of memories of that one tho I was only 8 at the time.

The Friday before we spent most of the day in school (Moorland little School) listening to the sound check during lessons.

On the morning of the concert I remember my mum driving through Burslem and there were loads of people all asleep in sleepingbags around the old toilets by the Queens.

I watched the concert (well the crowd) from my nans kitchen window on the tenth floor of the highrise flats across from VP. It was ****ing loud!

I was three at the time and can remember hearing the gig loud and clear standing with my Dad in my back garden in Norton. I remember the wayward parachutist and Dad saying he must've landed at my Great Nan's in Stanfields or the Allotments.

Very pleased to be able to say I heard Randy Rhoads play live. I've got a few bootleg recordings of Ozzy's set and even though the recording quality is poor you can hear what a great player Randy Rhoads was. This month's "Guitar World" magazine from the USA has got a few pictures from the Vale gig as has the book included in the Limited Edition "Blizzard of Ozz/Diary of a Madman 30th Anniversary" box set.

There is a tiny bit of Cine footage on the "Don't Blame Me" DVD which shows Lemmy, Ozzy and Randy and you can clearly see the Hamil side of the Railway Paddock.

Vale should do a re-issue T-shirt. I'd love one!

That line up is spot on, Ted Nugent didn't appear. The ticket stated as Motorhead / Black Sabbath double bill toppers, but Ozzy appeared with Randy Rhoades on guitar. Only chance i had to see him live, i thought they stole the show. Motorhead were on top form having just released "No sleep til Hammersmith" and Frank Marino and Mahogony Rush were also in good form. The rest were not so good, as i remember.

Story was that Sabbath insisted on going on last which Motorhead agreed to as long as they could use their 'bomber' lighting rig. Sabbath said no and pulled out. Ozzy stepped in at the last minute and Motorhead became the headline act.

Randy Rhodes was superb and Ozzy put on a great show

Motorhead were well worth waiting for as they put on a great show and were at their peak of success at the time

I was 20, and me and me mates called in every boozer from Goldenhill (the Nelson opened at 10 for us) to Boslem. We could hear Vardis playing 'awkwind's Silver Machine from Tunstall, missed the next two bands and made it for about 4 o'clock, though my senses were somewhat dulled by then. Remember spending the time between sets starting wars with plastic bottlers at anyone we could hit. Remember the parachutist missing the gorund. Motorhead were, as usual, awesome. Remember seeing the entire crowd giving the Ozzy salute from the top of the old Hamil Road stand when returning from the slasher. Got over the hangover the next day in the boozer again. Theses days its three pints max and persistent tinnitus. Next stop, Motorhead's autumn tour.
