How ironic - Sky Bet Transfer Fund

So, Nottingham Forest were one of three clubs to be handed a transfer ban after not hitting the financial fair play criteria - and then they get a £250k bonus courtesy of the Sky Bet Transfer Fund lottery -

Some clubs have all the luck!

Perhaps next season, clubs subject to embargoes should be exempt from the draw?

Good idea Rob, but we best not be holding our collective breath :)

Although totally off topic, I came across this article whilst viewing the above one on Notts Forest.

Would anyone welcome alcohol at seats at VP. I certainly think the revenue from the sale would increase if it was allowed (as would the cost of cleaning up plastic cups!)

My first thought was, what club would announce they had won £250k to spend on transfers? It automatically tells those you want to buy from that you have cash in your pocket.

Now it can be spent on wages, I would bet that there's a queue at the manager's door of players wanting to negotiate a new contract.

I don't like to constantly attack Sky as the root of all current football evil, but it does seem unfair to randomly give a club an advantage in the transfer market.

It's far more boring and with less PR opportunities but wouldn't it be fairer for Sky Bet to share the money?

I reckon that would be roughly £3,500 per club towards wages. It ain't a great deal, but it's still better than nothing and it means that EVERY club benefits.

There is good reason to attack Sky, they are the enemies of non-elitist football, the money given to Forest and others in their facile lottery could have helped on things like the recent appeal on here for a local under-9s team (was it Tracey, not sure?) or other genuine 'grass roots' football causes.
