If it all goes to plan accounts wise, I can see the odds improving dramatically if Mo announces that he will give Micky a nice big chunk to spend on transfers and wages. We'll probably be joint favourites then.

 

First and foremost, though, considering Ray Williams' position, we need to bring in a few scouts. I think TLB mentioned something about scouting abroad and setting up club affiliations.

 

Then we need to bring in another defender as cover (last seasons injury problems in defence were a major headache), a CM, LW/RW and another striker.

 

Hopefully for the first time in years we won't have to pinch frees from non-league anymore come next season.

 

Mickey has already stated that he intends getting a left back in, as he's released K. Taylor and Collins is the only member of the squad who can realistically fill that void.

 

Wingers that can actually take a man on and get a decent cross in are another area that need extensive consideration, and a fox in the box type of player, a la Constantine, who can get those all important goals.

I can't see us getting promoted without two or three noteworthy additions that the current regime couldn't touch. Whether Mo can / will provide this necessity before the season begins remains to be seen.

We need a left back and some cover in defence (somebody like Collins that can play all across the back would be ideal). We need a decent winger or 2 (Chris Palmer can player either wing or fill in at left/right back). A central midfielder, and 2 strikers, one to start and another as cover cus Rico will get injured.

 

So I reckon 5/6 players just to have some squad depth.

The problem with Micky is that he's not that bothered by youth players - he'd prefer to build a team of journeymen. That team will get us out of the league but will leave us knackered in the future. That's why we need Mo's money to make our future sustainable.

 

We have some very decent CofE kids who have to fund themselves due to lack of budget. With Mo's proposed academy status plans, we could be set.

 

I reckon we should make a go of soon to be surplus to requirements Cody McDonald from Norwich and Huddersfield's Lee Novak.

 

RE: Donaldson, yes he gets goals but if he still has that bizarre Black Beauty haircut I'll spend the whole 90 minutes throwing sugar cubes at him from the byline.

Dream on. 14/1 might be generous, but promo is still very unlikely. How many years have we been in existence? How many promos have we won? Its always a very long shot, no mater who sits in the fat seat and drinks the shampoo.

 

We should all want it, but expecting it is silly, imho.
