Come on all you 7, 8 and 9 year olds..join in the fun "You fat *******, you fat *******" Join us next time when we'll be having a singalong to "he's fat he's b**t his **** is up for rent"..we'll even be handing out song sheets

Can't we be a bit more witty when it comes to banter? It's all so crude, juvenile and just not funny

I think this thread highlights how pathetic our country has become , you can't even call someone from Scotland , Scottish. It's not like they called him a jock!

Of course you can call a Scot Scottish...but you can't use him being Scottish as a term of abuse.

Can I refer to a gentleman from Africa as an ****ing African *******? That OK? After all he is from Africa and he may well be a ****ing *******?

Africa is not a country.

But the abuse bit was ******* wasn't? Surely the Scottish and Fat bits are simply factually correct additions to assist in identifying whom the abuse was directed at?

Not if it (being Scottish) is meant as part of the abuse. To identify him simply state "Steve Evans is a *******".....much easier and removes the possibility that other fat Scots who are present will be offended.

What about Fat Cockney *******? Is that OK or is that racist as well?

I don't see it as racist but if the use of Cockney is meant to be abusive then it's part of the abuse and not just identifying that the abuse is aimed at a cockney...all about intent

My question still remains unanswered

Irrelevant

The question remains unanswered..

"Can I refer to a gentleman from Africa as a ****ing African *******? That OK? After all he is from Africa and he may well be a ****ing *******?"

No, because the use of the term "African" is implicitly a reference to skin colour whereas the use of the word Scottish is simply a reference to someone's nationality.
