Private health plans would go through the roof if the NHS was disbanded. Just like utility bills have gone through the roof, petrol prices went through the roof, car insurance went through the roof. We would have poor people suffer ill health without treatment then die, we would come to a position where people would be too sick to function. Creating compulsory health care would lead to the suicide of lower society- it would not be fair, and is the reason we should embrace our NHS. It is there for US the hardworking British person.

Embrace the NHS it has been there for us for decades and why we are all still here today. We owe the NHS our lives. No more talk of disbanding the NHS please

The Tories want the NHS to fail so they can privatise it. Anybody who believes differently is deluded.

UKIP change their policies depending on which way the wind blows. Anybody who believes differently is deluded.

Labour uses it simply as a headline/vote catcher... anybody who believes diff... well you know how it goes

'Downunder we pay 2% of taxable income - known as a Medicare Levy, but Mrs AR and me also take out a top table private health insurance policy so as to be able to access private hospital, dental, chiropractic and other medical services sooner than later if needed.

Many Aussies can't afford private health, but many can yet choose not to buy - and they are the ones to get upset having to wait in line for public medical services.

So what about the British people who aren't hard working, people who have been on benefits for years. Are you saying they shouldn't be able to use NHS services?

What about prisoners who are convicted of crimes? Should we stop their access to healthcare? Shouldn't we be looking to see that our own people are first and foremost looked after. These people you state 'have not worked for years' surely are a myth unless they have legitimate reasons for not working. The very system of the Department of work and pensions would not allow people to just sit in a sofa without real good reason. You need to be aware, Cheeky, that the media have raised a profile against English people that do not work yet we have large multinationals choosing foreign polish nationals over our own unemployed workforce by setting up agencies in the far eastern European countries. It is not justified that we continually slate our unemployed while such practices by big business is ongoing.

would you be in favour of a staged introduction? anyone under 35 [say] has to take out insurance anyone older stays on NHS with same government funding..... and support people who couldnt get/afford the costs?

I wouldnt have a problem with a staged introduction. Its not something that could realistically be done in a few days, it would probably take years.

I'm a bit more wary of supporting people who cant afford it without knowing the details, if you mean a blank cheque for anyone who asks for it then no. There arent enough checks on claimants ability to pay nor is there enough encouragment for people to take repsonsibility for themselves in this country. The benefits system is abused as it is so any additional benefits would need to be policed much better than they are now before I would support them.

People who cant afford private care in the US still have access to hospitals so please dont say I'm advocating the death of millions of poor people.

Ukip's policy has remained the same since last years conference and will remain the case, free at the point of delivery.

None of the above is correct, if it were then the US would have worse health care than we do and milions would be dying. They havent and they arent.

Yet its a fact that the only party who has actually privatised any part of the NHS is....Labour

Anyone who believes differently is still using their grandparents vote because they still think Labour represent the workers

And the US oil supply far outweighs ours and their fuel is a lot cheaper as well. In fact quite a lot is a lot cheaper. Do you really think the UK pharmaceutical firms will match the cheapness of the USA. It will not happen here. I think we should be proud of our NHS, but they way it is abused at the moment in regards to its use and its private profit making is unacceptable. That is what needs to change and UKIP will do it in a way which leads to efficiency, sustainability, and proper accountability.

UKIP will introduce private healthcare for migrants who have not paid enough into the system and it will become a condition on their entry to the UK. For the rest of us, it will be free at the point of delivery. If they lie about it (and I seriously doubt UKIP will) then people would just vote them out. It will not happen and people will be able to access a better NHS under UKIP.

Notice the reporter is of Indian descent. Possibly able to afford private healthcare anyway, and just one of many ex migrants who will vote against UKIP.
