Pope is good enough, but Justin Richards isn't? Justin Richards has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season. Yes, it's by no means a brilliant tally, but it's 14 goals he has contributed to the team. Apparently, Marc Richards is the best player at the Club, who managed to finish the season with 20 goals himself, but has been putting in some effortless performances for a considerable amount of time now. Only 6 goals is the difference between the two players, yet one is deemed a good player and the other is 'absolute toss'? How do you come to that conclusion? He puts more effort in than Marc imo.

Pope had a good little spell whilst he was here, mainly due to his ability of going down in the box far too easily and winning penalties. He also chipped in with a couple of goals, but he was hardly brilliant. He was steady, was good in the air and offered a bit more strength up top, but that's not what we need. We need a small, nippy striker with a bit of pace, in the same mould as McPhee and Naylor, rather than consistently having strong target men like Richards, Richards, Pope, Sodje etc..

If we're going to get out of this league, we need pace, and in abundance. Haldane isn't anywhere near the player he was last season and Rob Taylor is far too inconsistent in my view. Dodds drifts in and out of games far too easily, and Rigg is just a bit-part player who I don't think is good enough. To think we've gone from having the likes of Guppy and McCarthy bombing up and down our wings, to having Rob Taylor, Haldane, Dodds and the likes being out-of-position, next to no creativity and no end product. We need fresh legs in the squad, and can't afford to keep carrying deadwood like this.

Marc Richards needs a partner alongside him who can score goals , justin richards cant score goals he just puts alot of effort in tbh if adams comes in he will get rid of JR and get a better forward in....................

Like he got Craig Davies in, then Vale would not fund him. Could be a tougher league next year, promoted teams replaced by bigger clubs, and Crawley instead of Stockport.

Richards is an alright striker at this level, not sure about L1.

His confidence has been shot to pieces this season. An interview of the Cheltenham manager talking about him was quite interesting. He said that Justin is far too critical and hard on himself.

Sounds like the sort of player that could easily turn to bad form within a few weeks.

I'd have Pope though. After he left you could tell the difference in the side.
