League One This Time Last Year

With nothing better to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I took a quick look at the League 1 table this time last year to see how we might be doing.

 

What caught my attention most was that only two of the teams who eventually finished in the play-off places were in the top six after about a third of the season (Doncaster, who went up; and Sheff Utd, who didn't). The other four were anywhere between 7th and 19th. Conversely, three of the four teams who went down were already in the bottom four. So, there's everything to play for as we go into the rest of the season and we probably only need 28 more points to avoid the drop! :)

I was on there the other day looking at how our points total compared to other League One campaigns.

 

I'd forgotten that we were in the play offs in 2005/06 until about the same time that we sold Paynter and Collins.

 

Interesting to note that we've got 20 points now. When we got relegated we only got to 20 points after beating Millwall in January with two late Keith Lowe goals.

To be honest I do think the top four plus Brentford will be in the top six at the end of the season but if we are up there challenging I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

 

I still think 12th to 14th is where we will end up.

Survival comes first in my opinion. The more points we put on the board, the closer we get to achieving that!
